About Lynne

Lynne has had a needle in her hand most of her adult life. She has tried needlepoint, dress making (which was a dismal failure), and patchwork. In 1997 she retired from teaching and took a class in England from Judith Trager, a well known American Quilt Artist. Judith introduced her to the art quilt world, and in 1998 Lynne did a one week residency with Judith. Both quilts she made under Judith’s tutelage were accepted for Quilt Week Yokahama, Japan and so her second career began.

Lynne was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but grew up in Bartlesville,Oklahoma, USA. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BA in Foreign Languages and taught French and Spanish for many years in the USA and the UK. In 1973 she temporarily moved to London, England and taught French in an American school in London. In 1975 she realised she had been born on the wrong continent, became a permanent resident of the UK, and became a British citizen in 2017.

Since then, Lynne has led workshops and lectured about art quilts. She has taken classes from many quilt artists, and completed a two year Master Class with Linda Colsh. She has served as a regional Representative for SAQA and her quilts have been shown in Japan, the USA, and Europe. Lynne is a member of SAQA, the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles, and the art quilt group By Design.

Lynne enjoys travelling, reading, being in her garden, making artists’ books, and the cinema. Lynne’s travels with her husband have taken them to Japan, China, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bali and Australia as well as the USA and Europe.

She lives in London with her English husband. Their daughter lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma and their son and his family live in London.
